ESL Provider Search Instructions

*How to use this search tool:* Information has been gathered from numerous providers of ESL classes, and compiled into a database so that people can search from a single list to identify the most appropriate class choices. From this page you can identify specific providers of ESL classes and from there, see all the classes that those providers offer in various locations. When you have made all of your selections, click on the "Search" button and the list of providers will appear. The provider list shows the basic information of Provider name, city, category, residency requirements, and other requirements.
*Drop Down Selection Buttons:*
City	Click on the down arrow and you may select any city in Santa Clara County. Only providers that teach classes in that city will be listed. If you do not select a city, all providers in the county (that meet the other search criteria) will appear on the list.
Type of Class	Click on the down arrow and select the level or type of ESL class that you are interested in. Only providers offering that type of ESL class will be included on the list. For example, this could be used to see a list of all providers of Citizenship ESL classes in San Jose. If you do not select a type of class, all providers (that meet the other search criteria) will appear on the list.
Languages Spoken Within Provider Organization	This is for people who have a need for some assistance in a specific language other than English. If a language is selected, the list will show only providers who have that capability within their organization. It does not mean that the classes will be taught by a bi-lingual instructor. All classes are taught in English unless otherwise specified in the class name or description. It does not mean that a bi-lingual person will be at the class site at the time of all classes. If necessary, arrangements can be made for a translator to assist with an explanation or clarification. More details can be obtained by contacting the provider.
Type of Provider	Numerous types of organizations or institutions are providing ESL classes. The provider is the organization funding or sponsoring the class, which may be different than the location of the class. If you do not choose a type of provider, you will see all providers listed that meet the other Search Criteria selected (city, type of class, etc.). For example if college credits were required, only classes at University or Community Colleges could be viewed. Or if a class with no fees was desired, the search could be limited to only Adult Education, Community Based Organizations or Religious Organizations, which are usually free.
Sort	After you have limited the type of providers that you want to see listed, you may select the order in which they will appear on the list.
*Other Options* Click on the Provider Name for more details on that particular provider, including a list of all classes offerred by the provider, their locations, start dates and schedules. Click on the Class Location for more details on that particular location, including a list of all classes offerred at that site, start dates and schedules. Click on the Class Name to see the detailed information on that class.
