U.S. Border Agents fired tear gas and rubber bullets yesterday at a group of immigrants including young children. These policies are cruel and unjustified, and must be loudly rejected. The people who were fired upon are fleeing dangerous conditions and have the human and legal right to seek asylum in the U.S. Join Misa de Solidaridad, Families Belong Together San Jose, and Orchard City Indivisible for a peaceful sit in on Dec. 2 to say, “STOP THE TEARS.” Please bring your signs and visual representations to make your voice heard.

UNA-USA and the UN Human Rights Office (OHCHR) have partnered to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR, a milestone document in the history of human rights, was enacted by the UN on December 10, 1948. It set out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected. Eleanor Roosevelt, former UNA-USA board chairwoman and trailblazer chaired the UDHR drafting committee and was integral to its adoption.
