The VAR, in collaboration with the City of San Jose, invite you to join the 42nd Commemoration of Black April – the day that marks the Fall of Saigon and triggered waves refugees from the country. Members of the VAR, as refugees and children of refugees, are mindful of the tragic conflicts around the world that have led to the exodus of millions of people from their homes. We face a global refugee crisis and these refugees cannot be forgotten because their stories are our own. In commemorating Black April with our broader community, VAR seeks to encourage an understanding of the Vietnamese American experience. Within that understanding may come the Inspiration for action, individually and collectively, to ensure the refugees of today are given the same opportunities once given to us.

Free public program – Black attire encouraged. Reception at 12:00pm – Program starts at 1:00pm

    San Jose City Hall, Rotunda
