Free Immigration Law Clinics - Jewish Family Services
JFS-SV and the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association, (AILA) are offering free immigration law clinics to serve the needs of immigrants in the South Bay. Clients who come to this country as asylees or refugees (those who fled their home countries because of persecution) can receive help to complete green card and citizenship applications and fee waiver applications to ameliorate the costs of the application fees (totaling well over a thousand dollars.)

Public Hearing on Civil Detainers and ICE Notifications
The Santa Clara County Human Rights Commission is hosting a Public Hearing on potential changes to the Board of Supervisors’ Policy #3.54 relating to Civil Detainer Requests and Inmate Notification to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. We will be receiving testimony from experts and then hearing testimony from members of the public. The commission will use that information to form an opinion, which we will deliver to the Board of Supervisors to help them in making their decision on the matter. RSVP on Facebook

48th Annual Stanford Pow Wow
The Stanford American Indian Organization (SAIO) and the Stanford Powwow Planning Committee will host the 48th Annual Stanford Powwow on May 10-12, 2019 on the Stanford University campus. The Powwow will be held in the Eucalyptus Grove at Galvez and Campus Drives. The Stanford Powwow is open to the public and overnight camping spaces are available. Donations for parking and camping are welcome. There is no pre-registration, and registration is done on a first come, first served, basis. However, there should be plenty of room for anyone who wants to camp. Also, no personal tents or canopies are allowed on the powwow grounds until 3pm on Friday. This gives our facilities team adequate time to set up.Any questions can be directed to 650-723-4078 or powwow-cochairs@lists.stanford.edu.

Vietnamese American Roundtable 2019 SEEDS Program
SEEDS (Student Engagement and Education for Development and Success), a summer program to train and grow future community leaders who can address community issues through hands-on programming experience. Participants will learn current issues impacting the Vietnamese community and identify issues that are important to them during the summer-long program. High school and college students (14 - 24 years old) will have classroom workshops and field trips to learn more about refugee and immigrant history and culture. 8 sessions: 10:00am to 2:00pm on May 24th, June 1st, 15th, 18th, 29th, July 13th, 27th and August 3rd.
