Census 2020: We All Count - How Nonprofits Can Help Ensure an Accurate Census 2020
Do you know what’s at stake in the 2020 Census?
Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a population count of everyone living in the United States through the Census. The 2020 Census is a short questionnaire that asks basic information, like the age, race/ethnicity, and sex of everyone in your household. Census data is used to determine how $1.5 trillion dollars of government funding is spent on local communities every year for education, housing, healthcare and more. It is also the basis of how many U.S. Representative each State gets in Congress. Governments, businesses, schools, and nonprofits use this data to measure the need for services to help individuals and families in need. If there is an undercount in Santa Clara County, we might lose out on federal funding for those who need it most.
